Finding Your Poet’s Heart

Good poetry can take all the complexities in our heart and express them in a way that brings our longings to life, Mary Oliver poemmakes them important, and connects us with the rest of humanity. One of our favorite poets is Mary Oliver. She often writes about nature, wildlife and the remarkable experience of being human. No matter what kind of a healing challenge you might be facing, you may find—as we have—priceless wisdom and empathy in the lines of Mary Oliver’s poems.

Here are two of our favorites:

Where the path closed
down and over,
through the scumbled leaves,
fallen branches,
through the knotted catbrier,
I kept going. Finally
I could not
save my arms
from thorns; soon
the mosquitoes
smelled me, hot
and wounded, and came
wheeling and whining.
And that’s how I came
to the edge of the pond:
black and empty
except for a spindle
of bleached reeds
at the far shore
which, as I looked,
wrinkled suddenly
into three egrets – – –
a shower
of white fire!
Even half-asleep they had
such faith in the world
that had made them – – –
tilting through the water,
unruffled, sure,
by the laws
of their faith not logic,
they opened their wings
softly and stepped
over every dark thing.

It doesn’t have to be
the blue iris, it could be
weeds in a vacant lot, or a few
small stones; just
pay attention, then patch

a few words together and don’t try
to make them elaborate, this isn’t
a contest but the doorway

into thanks, and a silence in which
another voice may speak.

If you liked these, here you can find more of Mary Oliver’s poems. (Some more of our favorites: “The Journey,” “Wild Geese,” and “The Summer Day”) Enjoy!

Your Liquid Body

You hear it all the time: drink six-eight glasses of water a day. But do you really understand why this is so important? We’re Waternot going to lecture you here…just try to help you get a sense for the connection you already have with water. Your body right now is almost two-thirds water. That means you are more liquid than solid!

You know what happens to still water, tadalafil right? It grows algae and bacteria and becomes dangerous to drink. Well, check if the water in your body stays still like that, it can become toxic as well. When you drink a lot of fresh, clean water, you help to flush out the old water and keep the liquid of your organ and tissue cells from becoming stagnant, toxic and contributing to ill-health. If you are serious about your healing process and truly want to help your body, you absolutely must drink at least six-eight glasses a day. It’s not an option. This is what your body needs.

Try it – just start with doing it for three days. Try drinking the recommended amount of water. See how you feel.
